EA SPORTS has just revealed a huge new feature for FIFA 18 that could give it the edge over PES 2018 when both games release later this year.
EA Sports has this week revealed several BIG features coming to FIFA 18 this year, as the developer looks to create a certain level of hype to hopefully outdo their competitors at Konami and PES 2018.
This week EA Sports revealed changes to the way crosses will work in game, as well as improved player position to make the game 'feel more authentic'
These features, while obviously impressive in the context of the new EA Sports videos released on social media this week, are ultimately smaller tweaks to an already well-refined game.
There is, however, one new feature coming to the game which EA also chose to show this week and in many ways, it's a massive game-changer to the series and hopefully provides EA Sports that extra edge in the battle with PES 2018.
We're of course talking about the new Dynamic Quick Subs, which essentially allow you to make a quick change without the boring, pace-sucking process of pausing the game and navigating the menus.
"The overlay is optional/skippable, in case you're of the no-subs-ever mentality," Explains FUThead.com
"But if you're that type that preplans to take Khedira off for Kanté in the 71' every game, you can preset that sub and make it as need be without giving your opponent the mental cue to answer or get their act together."
While obviously a really helpful feature, according to FUThead it could also prove to be incredibly beneficial for Pro players in those all important pressure situations.
"Everyone who plays FIFA has been there. You're up by a goal (or two) late in a match. All the momentum is working in your favour. Surely you're but 20, 25 minutes away from a sure-fire big-time W. But your CAM is sluggish. Or maybe your CDM is getting beat off the line in a way he didn't before.
"You reluctantly pause to make a substitution. And then your teammate does too. Or maybe if they don't, the break allows them to clear their mind, regather their emotions, and dig just deep enough to find the equalizer and eventually win on penalties.
"It's a little touch, but when you play FIFA 18, you'll understand why tactically it's such a big deal this year. Who knows. Given some of the ways pauses have impacted FUT Champions finals matches in the past, it might just wind up helping shape the outcome of a big competitive FIFA game this coming year as well."
It's a feature which the EA Sports camp will no doubt hope will allow FIFA 18 to dominate the next season of football games, knowing full well that PES 2017 performed impressively last year.
Konami has reported record year-on-year profits which they claim is in no small part thanks to PES 2017, noting that the game "performed strongly" in the market.
EA Sports has also recently revealed that for the first time ever, FIFA 18 will include Germany's third division, known on the continent as '3 Liga'.
The news first originated via a report in Kicker, but was later picked up and verified by the Ultimate Team experts at Futhead.com
"If you're not super familiar with the German third division, you're not alone,' explained a blog post by Futhead.
"I'm a Bayern Munich supporter and even I could probably only rattle off two or three clubs if pressed. But perhaps surprisingly, it's one of the more popular ancillary pro leagues out there. And with England's Top 4 flights already represented in FIFA, it was only a matter of time before Germany got in the act too."
"If you're looking for a deeper German career mode, say with the likes of SpVgg Unterhaching or Karlsruher SC this coming Autumn, you're in luck.
It remains to be seen if EA Sports will look to include FUT (FIFA Ultimate Team) items for the league, but Futhead has suggested that based on the inclusion of 2. Bundesliga and England's EFL League One, players "shouldn't expect much impact outside of Silver and Bronze packs."
While obviously less important for UK readers, Futhead suggests the move might be of particular interest to fans of FIFA in America:
"A number of rising stars and lesser known Yanks hone their craft in the 3. Liga including the former USMNT senior capped Joe Gyau."
